Our last Parents Forum event was arranged for Thursday 13th June at 9 am. We will schedule future meetings imminently and these will, in the short term, be held remotely using Microsoft teams
The forum is held to enhance communication between our school family and the school. Minutes from previous meetings can be found below:
Polls and Surveys
At the end of the year we sent out two surveys; one to pupils and one to parents and carers. These surveys allow us to be able to evaluate how well we are doing and where we need to improve.
Our latest survey, at the end of the academic year 2019-2020, told us that:
93% of parents and carers know that their child enjoys coming to school and feel that their child is safe when they are here at East Ward.
96% of parents and carers say that their child is making good progress.
89% say that any issues with behaviour are dealt with efficiently and 92% feel that the school listens to them.
REMOTE LEARNING SURVEY JANUARY 2021
We asked parents to provide us with feedback on our approach to remote learning and to allow to us continually improve our offer. The survey told us that:
95% of parents were happy with the amount of work their child was doing during lockdown.
99% of parents felt that their child coped with the learning whilst working remotely.
99% of parent knew who they could speak to for support.
99% of parents said that the school kept in regular touch with their child.
What did we do well?
'Providing the device, understanding the needs and struggles of the families. I have found online lessons is a much better way to the oine learning and it helps with a bit of routine.'
'Making sure my child understands the work and gets in contact if she's struggling.'
'The teams lessons are great for the interaction with the teachers.'
'Keeping in contact with children and helping them throughout the day if needed.'
YOU SAID- WE DID
You said you need some support to help your child when working remotely.
Several parent workshops were offered to all families to support them with their child's learning at home.
You said you needed paper and pencils for your child to use at home.
Exercise books, pencils and sharpeners were available to all families to allow them to continue to be successful with their learning whilst at home.
You said your child would benefit from some time to speak with their friends.
All teachers timetabled a 'social chat' meet into their weekly timetable to ensure all children had time to socialise and speak with their friends during lock down.
